Get started to learn the French language online in a fun way, and learn the basics you need to make yourself understood. Join our 100% online French courses for absolute beginners! This 22-hour course includes 10 2-hour sessions and a 2-hour final assessment session. Each group consists of 3 to 8 individuals.

A1.1 Course (Bonjour et bienvenue !)
For this introductory French course tailored for absolute beginners, we will be utilizing the “Bonjour et bienvenue !” textbook. This comprehensive resource encompasses an introduction to the French alphabet and phonetics, along with eight thematic lessons. Notably, the activity instructions, as well as the phonetics and grammar sections, are translated into English for ease of understanding.
“Bonjour et bienvenue !” for English speakers is a holistic method meticulously designed to facilitate a seamless initiation into the French language. It is specifically crafted for true beginners and aligns with the A1.1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Learning objectives:
- Greeting people: exchanging greetings, saying goodbye, asking someone how s/he is and answering;
- Exchanging in class: understanding instructions in French class, asking questions in class;
- Introducing yourself: saying your name and your age, asking someone’s name and age, giving the date, talking about nationality, talking about professions;
- Talking about your likes and dislikes: talking about likes and dislikes, talking about sports and leisure activities you like or dislike;
- Giving directions: giving someone your address, asking someone his/her address, asking and giving directions;
- Eating and drinking: talking about eating habits;
- Shopping: asking politely for an item, shopping and asking for a price.
